Tall case brass dial clock, ca. 1785.

Mahogany tall-case clock. The hood has a molded arch pediment with three urn-and-spire finials on plinths, pierced fretwork, and free-standing stop-fluted columns at the front corners, with brass stop-fluting, capitals and bases. The door is glazed with an astragal top. Waist with cove molding at the top, stop-fluted quarter columns at the front corners with brass stop-fluting, capitals and bases, and a case door with a molded edge and an astragal top. Base with ogee molding at the top, compound moldings at the bottom and supported on ogee bracket feet. Engraved dial with roman hour numerals and arabic minute numerals, engraved flowers in the spandrels, and an engraved dial with a silent/strike indicator in the lunette. Inside the chapter ring there is an engraved seconds dial, a calendar aperture surrounded by an engraved foliate border, and the signature "Simon Willard." Eight day movement.
